Sonder Handwovens is the brainchild of Maddy Hosking, a Sydney local who has been weaving on and off for 10 years and sewing consistently for 12 years.
Maddy works out of her home in Western Sydney, usually with a child or two around. In a past life, she worked in Client Services and uses this expertise to ensure that every client receives the attention and care that they deserve.
Maddy takes a particular interest in textured weaving, including supplementary threads and using hand spun yarn.
Maddy enjoys swimming, hiking, and novels, but not all at the same time.
Maddy works off multiple looms, ranging from an Australian built 8 shaft jack loom, to a tapestry frame loom. Each has a purpose, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses which make them suited to a project. If you ask, Maddy will be happy to gush about her looms and the process with each one.
